SIMANGGANG: Sarawak made it to the finals of the boxing competition in the men’s featherweight (54-57kg) and the women’s flyweight (48-52kg) categories last night (Aug 21).

In the men’s category, Frederick Xian Bartholomew Albern defeated Penang’s Muhammad Aman Danish Mohd Suhairi with a technical knock (TKO) in the first round.

Clavia Charlene Sudang Kenedy secured her spot in the final with a 5-0 win over Negeri Sembilan’s Nur Farzana Husan Shahrelamdan in the women’s flyweight category.

Unfortunately, in the men’s heavyweight (+86kg) category, Aidith Aqida Abdullah was beaten by Penang’s Danaraj Anantha Selvam.

So far, a total of eight Sarawakian boxers have made it to the finals in their categories and they are expected to contribute gold medals.

The finals will take place today (Aug 22) and tomorrow (Aug 23) at Sri Aman Indoor Stadium.
