SIBU: An elderly couple visiting the Tiong Hin Chinese Cemetery in Sungai Merah here on yesterday (April 3), were found unconscious.

A Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesman said Bomba received a call from health personnel around 3.30pm for assistance to carry the duo.

Firefighters from the Sungai Merah station later arrived and lifted them onto two stretchers and the ambulance brought them to hospital for treatment.

It was unclear how long the couple had been unconscious or what caused them to faint.

The couple, aged 75 and 71, were likely visiting the cemetery in preparation for the upcoming Ching Ming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, which will be observed on April 5.
