BAU: An elderly couple was injured in a road accident near Kampung Nawang, Jalan Bau-Lundu today (Sept 17).
The incident occurred around 1.26 pm when an Isuzu Invader, carrying three people, skidded off the road and crashed into a roadside divider.
Emergency services were alerted and firefighters from Selangau station were dispatched to the scene.
While the driver escaped unscathed, his elderly passengers were trapped in the vehicle.
Firefighters used specialised equipment to extricate the victims from the wreckage.
One passenger suffered a broken left leg, while the other sustained injuries to their head and left arm.
Both victims, aged 76 and 77, were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The operation concluded at 2.13 pm after the scene was deemed safe.
