KUCHING: An elderly couple reported missing when out looking for rattan wood at Sungai Janting in Bintangor was successfully rescued by firefighters on Wednesday night (May 5).
Klang Entalai, 74 and Achang Unja, 58 were found by firefighters at around 11.30pm at a distance of 4.5km from their last known location.
The Bintangor Fire and Rescue Station received a distress call at 7.18pm on Wednesday and immediately conducted search and rescue (SAR) operations for the couple.
“At around 11.30pm, both victims were successfully found by the SAR team in safe condition,” it said in a statement today.
It said the victims did not suffer any injuries during the incident.
“Both victims only suffered leg cramps and were in weak condition due to walking and the cold weather,” it added.
