MIRI: Individuals aged 60 and above here are encouraged to apply for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) to enjoy a range of perks catering to their needs and interests, including valuable medical benefits.
According to Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism), Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, the initiative issued by the Sarawak government aims to ensure that the elderly population has access to quality healthcare services without financial burden.
“With the KGC, senior citizens can benefit from discounted rates for medical consultations, treatments, and medications.”
Ting, who is also the Piasau assemblyman, made this statement on Sunday (March 24) during the ‘Sumbangan Bakul Kasih’ and Bubur Lambuk Ramadan 2024 event at Kampung Lereng Bukit, where a total of 88 recipients received contributions in the form of rice packets and bubur lambuk (porridge).
These contributions were provided by Tong Seng Huat Rice Trading Sdn Bhd and Liansing Trading Sdn Bhd.
Ting added that the KGC initiative underscores the government’s commitment to promoting the wellbeing of senior citizens and recognising their contributions to society.
“The KGC is a testament to Sarawak’s dedication to providing comprehensive healthcare support for the elderly population.”
The KGC offers discounts on various goods and services, as well as access to special events and programmes tailored for older adults.
