LAWAS: An elderly man was reported missing after he was swept away by strong currents during flash floods at Jalan Sungai Sepakoi here last night (Nov 8).
The victim is identified as Silas Sudai, 63.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were alerted to the incident around 11.30 pm.
Silas is believed to be checking the water levels in the area after the road connecting Lawas to Long Sukang became submerged in water.
The villagers conduct a search immediately for the victim but their efforts were fruitless.
Firemen from Lawas station have been deployed to the scene, some 40-50km away from the town.
At the time of writing, the victim is yet to be found.
