PADAWAN: An elderly man died on the spot following a two-vehicle collision at Mile 18, Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday (Sept 25).
Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the accident, involving a motorcycle and an ambulance, happened around 12.50 pm.
The ambulance was transporting a patient from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) to Serian when the collision occurred.
“The 74-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was later taken to SGH for a post-mortem procedure,” he said.
The ambulance driver and passengers escaped unharmed in the accident.
Mohd Irwan said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
