ASAJAYA: A 76-year-old man died in hospital after a three-vehicle crash along KM17 of Jalan Kota Samarahan-Sadong Jaya on Saturday (Nov 9).
Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Jaimi Husin said the accident occurred around 12.30 pm.
“Investigations revealed that an Isuzu D-Max, heading towards Kuching from Asajaya, collided head-on with a Proton Saga that was overtaking another vehicle. A motorcycle following the Saga was unable to avoid the collision and crashed into the D-Max,” he said.
The Saga passenger sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Kota Samarahan Heart Centre, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The drivers of the D-Max and Saga, as well as the motorcycle rider, escaped with minor injuries and were sent to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
