MIRI: An elderly man fron Desa Murni Permyjaya here was reported to have suffered from dog bites on Wednesday (Sept 26).
According to sources, the man was attacked early that morning, namely when he was about to feed his pet dog, believed to be a Border Collie breed dog. The incident happened around 6am at the man’s residence.
However, the exact circumstances around the attack were not immediately known. According to close source, the 51-year-old man is currently being warded at Miri Hospital.
The man sustained injuries on his leg and arm. Upon approaching the dog, which was being tied-up within the man’s compound area, suddenly the rope got loose and the dog behaved aggressively before it started to attack the man.
Fortunately, the man managed to free himself from the canine attacker and ran to safety. It was reported that the man managed to flee off the house compound and sought help from nearby neighbours who later helped to call up 999, as they feared for the safety of the man’s family members who were still inside the house.
A team of three Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel arrived at the scene around 6.49am. They helped to send the injured man to hospital, while the dog was eventually being put into a cage for safety purposes. However, it was not immediately known whether the canine had been vaccinated.
