SARATOK: Two elderly residents narrowly escaped a devastating blaze after their wooden house in Kampung Kupang Hilir here was completely destroyed yesterday (Nov 5).

Miraculously, both individuals were unharmed, thanks to the timely rescue efforts of villagers who pulled them from the inferno.

A representative from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that firemen from the Saratok fire station were dispatched immediately after an emergency call was received around 12.15 pm.

Upon their arrival, the firemen assessed the situation and determined that the two-story structure was unsalvageable.

Firefighting efforts were promptly executed, followed by thorough overhaul procedures to prevent any potential reignition at the site.

After ensuring the area was secure, they concluded their operation.

The investigation into the cause of the fire and the estimation of the damages are ongoing.
