BINTANGOR: Two tenants managed to evacuate safely after their two-storey house caught fire at Jalan Ulu Mador here today (Mar 4).

A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from the Bintangor station were dispatched to the scene, approximately 19 km away, after receiving a distress call at 11.28 am.

Upon arrival, the team found that the upper floor of the house had been engulfed in flames, resulting in damage to 50 per cent of the structure.

The fire was extinguished using water sourced from a nearby pond, and it was brought under control by 12.15 pm.

No injuries or casualties were reported among the tenants, who are aged 56 and 77.

Overhaul work was conducted to ensure there was no risk of reignition before the operation was concluded.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the losses incurred are still under investigation.
