LUNDU: An elderly person and two children were safe after their house was on fire in the early hours today.

The State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre (Bomba) said it received the distress call at 7.21am.

Firemen from Lundu Bomba station were immediately despatched to the incident location and commenced extinguishing operation.

The operations commander reported a single-storey house was on fire and sustained 40 per cent damage to its structure.

“There were three victims, an elderly person and two children, who managed to escape before the fire spread.

“The team used one nearby fire hydrant and using a hose to control and put out the fire,” it said.

Firemen were able to extinguish the fire and operation ended at 9am. The cause of fire and the total loss of the properties are still under investigation.
