MUKAH: An elderly woman was found dead in her house at Kampung Jebungan here today.
The victim, 67, was found hanging in front of the bathroom, by her nephew at around 9am.
A police team was deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call pertaining to the incident.
District police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias revealed that there were no signs of foul play at the scene.
“Investigations found that the victim’s nephew tried calling her several times to accompany her for grocery shopping but to no avail.
“Curious as to why his calls were not answered, the nephew went to her house and made a gruesome find where his aunt was hanging with a nylon rope around her neck.
He stated that a plastic chair next to the victim is believed to be used to commit the act.
The victim’s body was brought to Mukah Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
The case has been classified as sudden death pending a full investigation.
