MIRI: An elderly woman sustained injuries while trying to escape from her burning house in Lai Pau Garden this morning.
According to Sarawak Fire and Operation centre spokesperson, the woman sustained injuries while jumping from the window of the second floor to escape the inferno.
The victim was sent to Miri Hospital for medical treatment.
Firefighters from Lopeng and Miri fire stations who responded to reports of the blaze at 10.41 am found the upper floor of the double -storey house was completely razed.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
