SIBU: A video clip of three men in full-faced motorcycle helmet robbing an electrical repair shop in Jalan Khoo Peng Loong has gone viral on Sibu Info Facebook account.

Many people condemned the three robbers, one of whom was armed with an iron rod.

Sibu OCPD Asst Commissioner Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said yesterday that the robbery took place on March 12 but the victim (the shop owner) reported it to the police five days after the incident as he was traumatised by the incident.

In his police report, the 44-year-old victim said at about 6am that day while he was in his shop, the three men wearing red, black and black-white helmets, showed up.

“As the one with the black helmet told the victim that he wanted to have his TV set repaired the other two said, ‘Rompak!’ (robbery) and ordered the victim to keep quiet,” said ACP Stanley.

The red-helmeted robber then grabbed the victim’s hand while the one with the black-white helmet threatened him with an iron rod.

They pushed the victim to a table and ordered him to hand over his money which he did by giving them his wallet that contained RM20.

Dissatisfied with the meagre sum they then ransacked the place and took a handphone, a drinking bottle and RM170.

The victim’s total loss was estimated at RM1,000.

ACP Stanley said the case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
