KUCHING: An electrician was fined RM2,000 in default one month’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court after pleading guilty to trespassing into the premises of the General Operations Force (GOF) Sarawak Brigade Headquarters, Batu Kawa on August 6.

Chew Pok Voon, 50, was charged under Section 448 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi yesterday.

According to the charges, he deliberately trespassed into the area at about 12.20 pm on August 6.

The complainant, a Senior Police Officer, was informed by policemen on duty about a car not stopping for police inspection at the entrance of the headquarters.

Chew then drove the vehicle into the headquarters area without valid permission.

Found on the fifth floor of a police housing complex, he failed to give a reasonable reason for his presence in the area.

Because he had trespassed into GOF Sarawak Brigade Headquarters area, his car was subsequently seized.

The case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin while Chew was not represented by a lawyer.
