KUCHING: Music enthusiasts had the time of their lives and an unforgettable experience at the Dancing Queen Concert – A Tribute to ABBA and Queen.
Held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) last night (June 23), the concert featured award-winning ABBA tribute act from Europe, ABBORN, and Killer Queen, led by Alfred Ayal, hailed as the Freddie Mercury of Indonesia.
Joining them was also Asia’s top guitarist Alif Putra, known as the Steve Vai of Singapore.
Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said he was glad to see the good turnout at the concert.
“I believe there is a 2,000-strong crowd including those from outside the state coming together for the concert.
“ABBORN is bringing the songs of the yesteryear. Many here grew up with ABBA’s songs, especially those from the 70s,” he told reporters before the concert.
The evening kicked off at around 8 with ABBORN opening their set with the classic ABBA hit ‘Waterloo’.
As the performance continued, the audience danced and sang along to tracks like ‘Money, Money, Money’, ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)’, ‘Mamma Mia!’ and the ever-popular ‘Dancing Queen’.
Killer Queen then took the stage with the opening performance of Queen’s ‘One Vision’.
The crowd were also seen singing along to Queen’s iconic hits such as ‘I Want to Break Free’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, and ‘We Are The Champions’.
