KUCHING: ‘Twas an electrifying and galvanising opening night for the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2023 last night.
A sea of visitors from all around the world came together to let loose, relishing every beat of the most unique music presented on stage and dancing to the music non-stop.
During the festival’s opening, not one but two stages were set up for the performers.
The stages were served as rotating stages so that it would ease the process of taking turns setting up instruments between the performers, and the tourists would enjoy more of the music as well.
Orang Ulu Drum Theatre of West Malaysia, Buluh Bekocak (East Malaysia), Aseana Percussion Unit (West Malaysia), Nadir (West Malaysia), Rastak (Iran), At Adau (Sarawak), and Zee Avi (Sarawak) were some of the biggest names in the world music industry that performed during the opening night.
One of the most notable moments last night was when the Aseana Percussion Unit danced to Dikir Barat, and the audience members followed the routine as well.
They also performed Hijau, which was originally performed by Zainal Abiddin, in their own rendition.
The event started at 7.25pm and ended at around 12.30am on a high note.
Thankfully, nothing unpleasant or displeasing happened in those hours.
