KUCHING: Elle Precious and Nur Qasih Umairah will represent the state at the national-level Bintang Kecil RTM competition after defeating four other competitors on Saturday (Sept 10).
Both brought home RM2,000 each including a trophy and a certificate while the other state-level finalists received RM1,000 each at the 34th Bintang Kecil Sarawak.
The annual event, held at the Auditorium P Ramlee of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), was also attended by Malaysian pop singer Shila Amzah and Harris Mukhriz, both former national Bintang Kecil winners.
Elle Precious, 10, wowed the judges through a powerful rendition of Datuk Siti Nurhaliza’s ‘Seindah Biasa’ while 11-year-old Nur Qasih also did well when she performed ‘Korban’, a song originally sung by reputable Malaysian singer Ernie Zakri.
RTM said the organising of such competitions is expected to unearth more talent among children and be the first stage for them to adapt in the entertainment industry while also fostering an attitude of self-confidence in order to continue to excel in the future.
The other state-level finalists are Nur Aisyah Sawali, Albee Lim Xin Yu, Syarif Zakwan Suhardi and Fadziel Nuzul Mahriez Mahathir.
