KAPIT: Kapit district officer Elvis Didit has been appointed as the chairman of the pro-tem committee of Kapit Kidney Patients Association at their inaugural meeting yesterday.

Others appointed to the association’s first line-up were Temenggong Wilfred Billy Panyau, Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo and Pemanca Haji Wasli Nor (deputy chairmen), Penghulu Abang Hamzah Bohassan (secretary), Penghulu Lawrence Bandat (assistant secretary), Penghulu Sia Shui Poh (treasurer) and Penghulu Pasang Tubak (assistant treasurer).

Others in the pro-tem committee are Penghulu Esit Nalo, Penghulu Steward Sawing, James Ling, Matjeli Jamjam, Penghulu Wong Kie Ing, Penghulu Salang Batang and Penghulu Daniel Dian.

The committee appointed Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing, Assistant Minister Datuk Liwan Lagang, Kapit Member of Parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong as its patrons.

Meanwhile, the advisors are Katibas assemblyman Datuk Ambrose Blikau Entulan, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat and Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai.

The ex-officio members are the Kapit Hospital director Dr Hii King Ching and Kapit Health Department Medical Officer Dr Mohd Hamidi.

Elvis, in his remarks, said the formation of the pro-tem committee, among others, was to find a piece of land to build a kidney haemodialysis centre to complement the existing one in Kapit Hospital which was very crowded with patients.

He added a fund-raising dinner will be held on Jan 29, 2019 at Kapit Civic Centre.
