SAMARAHAN: The National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang programme highlight the significance of preserving the spirit of struggle and ensuring the nation’s independence.
Having said this, Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang said that the spirit of struggle is crucial, not merely for symbolic reasons but for actively expressing independence.
“Our spirit of independence should drive our efforts in every field,” he said at Surau Baitulrahman in Kampung Tanjung Bundong on August 10.
Idris said this during his speech to launch the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) Programme.
Earlier in the programme, Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) Sarawak chief assistant director Siti Fairuz Ngatenan called on the community to show their patriotism by flying the Jalur Gemilang.
“As the representative of the Director of JAPEN Sarawak and leader of this year’s KMJG convoy, I encourage everyone to decorate government buildings, residential areas, and villages to show our national pride
“I invite everyone to fly the Jalur Gemilang as a sign of patriotism and to celebrate our independence achieved 67 years ago,” she said.
She added that this call is part of the One House, One Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) initiative introduced by the Communications Ministry.
The program was further enlivened by the presentation of the Jalur Gemilang to local department heads and Madani community leaders in Samarahan.
Also present were Samarahan Division Resident Mohd Irwan Bahari Bujang, Samarahan District Officer Ahmad Abdul Razak, department heads, and the local Samarahan community.
