KUCHING: The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be enforced in four areas in the districts of Sarikei, Pakan and Kuching.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said EMCO would be implemented at Rh Rampai Sg Anyit Selangan, and Rh  Chan Minggat, Sg Kesa in Sarikei; Rh Payau Emperan Datuk, Sg Pinang in Pakan; and Kampung Sagah in Kuching.

“The EMCO at the two longhouses in Sarikei District is due to close contact cases whereas the Kampung Sagah Emco is due to a rapid increase of cases among the locals.

“Kampung Sagah cases involved community clusters where a funeral ceremony was held and it caused the spread of Covid-19 to the locals residing there.

“All four areas will undergo EMCO from April 30 to May 13.”

Meanwhile, SDMC said the district of Julau changed status to red from orange after 43 local infection cases were recorded in the past 14 days.
