LUNDU: Sarawak’s journey in the beach volleyball events in Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 has come to an early end as both the men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams failed to advance beyond the quarter-finals.

In the women’s category match held yesterday (Aug 20) both Sarawak A and Sarawak B teams faced tough competition and were defeated in their respective matches.

Sarawak B was up against Penang A but struggled to gain momentum, ultimately losing in straight sets with scores of 13-21 and 8-21.

Meanwhile, Sarawak A took on Penang B in another challenging encounter but was unable to overcome their opponents, falling with identical set scores of 15-21 and 15-21.

On the men’s side, Sarawak B faced a formidable opponent in Kedah A.

Despite a valiant effort in the first set, which ended 19-21, the Sarawak team could not maintain their performance in the second set, losing decisively with a score of 5-21.

With these losses, Sarawak’s campaign in beach volleyball at SUKMA has officially ended, marking the conclusion of their participation in this year’s competition.
