KUCHING: Technical and vocational education and training (Tvet) institutes must collaborate with industries in order to enhance their graduates’ marketability.
Director of Industry Collaboration Division and the Community Department, Ministry of Education Malaysia Zainah Rujihan said such collaboration was important to ensure the quality of the programme meets industry demands and high employment opportunities.
“The strategic cooperation aims at providing students and educators with access to the latest technology and knowledge in the industry so that the knowledge learned are relevant and in line with the socioeconomic requirements,” she said at the appointment ceremony of CEO@PolyCC, Industry Advisory Committee, Industry Fellows PKS and the signing of strategic cooperation between Politeknik Kuching Sarawak (PKS) and industries for the period 2019-2020 here yesterday.
She stressed that polytechnics and community colleges throughout Malaysia should always prepare the students and their educators to meet the needs of the global industry.
“By upgrading the level of knowledge and skills through smart partnerships with the industry, graduates will remain competitive and be prepared in their career pathway,” she added.
Zainah reiterated that both parties should be proactive and forward in leveraging on mutual relationships and networks.
Meanwhile, Kuching Polytechnic (PKS) director, Jamaliah Ahmad said the institute would establish strategic partnership with ten industries and agencies through its strategic cooperation programme.
