PUJUT assemblyman Adam Yii welcomes the Sarawak government’s reform efforts to build a responsive and effective public civil service.

He said such an initiative does not in any way condemn the current public servants as being incompetent, but the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s move to build and expand the capacity of the public servants, to be even more competent and qualified.

“This shows the trust and faith of the Premier in our public servants that they are able to reach new heights after attending training programmes at renowned higher learning institutions.

“As the Mayor of Miri City, I welcome this initiative with wide open arms. Indeed, our public servants have so much potential in them and they need to be developed to their fullest potentials,” he said.

He said this when debating on the State Budget 2024 at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here on Wednesday.

Yii added the public servants are key drivers to the development of the state, and if the Sarawak civil service is willing to dedicate themselves to enhance job performance and boost productivity, he is confident that 2024 would be another record breaking year for our beloved Sarawak.

“Good governance and reformation is not just a slogan to shout during the election campaigns, but it is the commitment to deliver good governance and reformation.

“This brings about constructive changes and today we all bear witness of that commitment in our Premier and his administration,” he said.

Abang Johari when tabling the State Budget 2024 last Monday, said reform effortsare being undertaken to build more responsive and effective public civil service so that it is able to deal with the current and future challenges.
