KUCHING: The Sarawak government is always open to collaborate with strategic partners to achieve the target of increasing economic growth from RM146 billion in 2022 to RM282 billion in 2030.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that this can be achieved when Sarawak has a complete economic ecosystem to boost the planned development activities.

He said that one of his main focuses is to bring Sarawak towards excellence in achieving the mission of becoming a developed state by 2030.

“The Sarawak government has administered and managed the economy and natural resources well until we are able to develop and diversify a strong economic base in making Sarawak the most advanced state with high income in Malaysia.

“Our target is to increase the economic growth from RM146 billion in 2022 to RM282 billion in 2030.

“This aspiration can be achieved if we have a complete state economic ecosystem to boost the planned economic development activities. Therefore, Sarawak is always open to cooperate with strategic partners for the benefit of everyone,” he said during the Affin Group Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri at Riverside Majestic Hotel Kuching yesterday (May 8).

Abang Johari also commended collaborative efforts with financial institutions like Affin Group, citing initiatives such as ‘Finance for All’ as instrumental in advancing financial inclusion across Sarawak.

This initiative aims to bolster Sarawak’s financial sector’s dynamism to cater to the economic needs of all levels of society.

He lauded Affin Group’s commitment to expanding its suite of financial products and services, which consist of Community Banking, Enterprise Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury and Investment Banking segments, aligning with the Sarawak government’s agenda to invigorate the business and entrepreneurship sector.

“I welcome this step and hope that Affin Group continues expanding opportunities and services in Sarawak so that all levels of society, including low-income groups and small traders, have access to innovative financial products and services,” he said.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Affin Bank Berhad president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah.
