SIBU: The Nangka Constituency Youth Workshop Committee has been established to further enhance the motoring mechanics industry among the youth here.

Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the committee was set up by youth involved in motorcycle and car workshop enterprises.

“Congratulations to this group who is committed and serious about the industry they are involved in.

“To support the committee, I have presented a grant of RM115,000 to them,” he said during a meeting with youth who operate motorcycle and car workshops at the Nangka Service Centre here on Sunday (Dec 13).

At the meeting, Annuar also discussed the proposed establishment of home-based car wash and car and motorcycle services, and towing services.

He believes that the motoring mechanics industry possesses great opportunities to generate lucrative income.

Annuar explained that not many people are good at repairing their own vehicles or motorcycles and consider those who are skilled as ‘blessed’.

“Your rezeki (sustenance) is in your hands. Not many individuals are like you and therefore, I put great attention to help you improve your competitiveness, skills and so on to pursue a career,” he added.

The Nangka assemblyman described the motoring mechanics industry as an industry that is relatively unaffected by any economic recession.

“This is because everyone uses motorcycles and cars to move around. In every house there must be a car or at least a motorcycle.

“It means that the technical skills you have will definitely be in high demand,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Annuar explained that he was always concerned about the needs of the youth in his area.

“I am committed to develop the youth here with the skills they have. For example, developing this motoring mechanical industry.

“At the same time, as Nangka assemblyman, I want to ensure that the youth here continue to be empowered with skills that can generate income for them,” he added.
