MIRI: The Malaysian Association of Hotels Sarawak Chapter (MAHSC) has provided training programmes to enhance the skills of 262 hoteliers throughout Sarawak so far.

The chairman of MAHSC, John Teo in a media statement, said its Capacity Building training programme is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak aligns with the state’s Post-COVID Development Strategies (PCDS) 2030 to enhance tourism industry skills in Sarawak.

“Since the launch of these initiatives, the MAHSC has consistently provided training programmes to enhance the skills of 262 hoteliers throughout Sarawak.

“Building on the achievements of 2023, MAHSC broadened its training efforts in 2024, offering nine specialised programmes to 185 hoteliers where the programme focuses on areas such as Culinary skills, Farm-to-Table practices, Sustainable Gastronomy Certification, F&B Revenue and Cost Management, Health and Safety, Guest Service (in Mandarin), Housekeeping, Digital Guest Experience, and Digital Transformation in Hospitality,” he said.

The member hotels have been giving the MAHSC positive feedback as the participants expressed their delight in being part of this strategy initiated by the government, recognising the programme’s value in enhancing their professional skills and contributing to the overall growth of Sarawak’s hospitality growth.

“These capacity-building programmes are critical to the continued growth and development of the hospitality industry in Sarawak and we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak.

“And we look forward to further strengthening our industry through continued training efforts from 2025 to 2030 in line with the PCDS 2030,”  expressed Teo.
