KUCHING: Political expert Datuk Peter Minos said Sarawakians have had enough of pledges and promises by political parties in West Malaysia.
“I recalled the last round when they said that the political manifestos were not bibles and so could be broken at will.
“I recalled the many promises made by Malayan leaders and political parties on many things, before, during and after elections. In fact, from 1963, they promised many things and all were merely words,” Minos said.
“We still have not got back all our powers under MA63. Many promises to help Sarawak on development and development projects were broken. Even projects that had been approved were cut off.
“Now they are trying to hoodwink Sarawak’s voters by promising a DPM post after GE15. Till it happens, it is merely a empty promise. I agree with what our Premier said. If a DPM post is given to Sarawak, it must be with real powers,” he said.
“Past actual experiences have taught us in Sarawak some lessons — that we must not accept any promise from KL too easily.
“Many promises had been broken or forgotten at will. We better stand on our own feet and unite fully under GPS to talk and bargain with KL. We must not be hoodwinked by empty promises anymore. Enough is enough,” Minos added.
