KUCHING: Educators need to ensure that the future generation will continue to practise good values, said the Education deputy director-general.

“Headmasters need to be able to lead and manage with quality and ethically, striving for a lifelong learning culture and must be in line with the development initiative in order to create a responsible future generation,” Datuk Sulaiman Wak said at the closing ceremony of the 25th National Education Convention and 37th National Delegates Conference of the Malaysian Headmasters Council here.

He reminded all primary school headmasters to adapt to technological changes and continuously improve their leadership skills in order to ensure that the future generations are able to make it in this globalised world.

“If we do not adapt with the current changes and technological developments, we will be left behind.

“We need to have the spirit and will to change for the better so that we are ready to face the various challenges.

“What we need is to identify weaknesses so that we are able to address problems in a constructive manner,” he stressed.

Sulaiman urged the Malaysian Headmasters Council to come up with measures and initiatives to achieve holistic human development.

“We as a teaching fraternity must be able to challenge ourselves with proactive and responsive leadership.

“While the ability to understand and cope with technological advancement will enable us to meet the demands of development, we must also create citizens that understand the importance of loving their community,” he said.

The convention was attended by over 7,000 headmasters from primary schools around the nation and directors of education.

With its theme “Guru Besar Peneraju Pendidikan Berkualiti Melalui Budaya Sejahtera Dan Harmoni”, the convention started on April 10.
