KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stressed that Sarawak’s diverse communities must continue to live harmoniously so that the state will continue to prosper.
Noting how the Year of the Dragon is said to be a good year filled with prosperity, he expressed hope for Sarawak to continue to flourish economically.
“With the community living in harmony, the state government can put its full focus to make the development in the state more sustainable.
“I also hope and pray that we can continue to defend (the rights) of the people in both rural and urban areas,” he said.
He said this when met by the media during the State Government Chinese New Year Open House at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
For the record, over 5,000 members of the public thronged the state government’s Chinese New Year Open House.
Present to grace the event was Head of State Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and other dignitaries.
