BETONG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister (KKDW), has reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting rural children’s education.
“We believe in building human capital by providing educational support from primary to tertiary levels, ensuring that rural communities are not left behind,” Zahid said.
Through the Majlis Amanah Rakyat Education Foundation (YPM), KKDW has implemented various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, including the YPM School Assistance Scheme.
“This year, we assisted 632 students in Sarawak, with 224 from primary schools and 408 from secondary schools, totalling RM85,400 in support. This aid includes school supplies and cash to help reduce the financial burden on low-income families,” Zahid said.
He added that the aid aims to encourage students to excel in their studies and ease the burden on parents and guardians.
Today (Nov 2), Zahid presented schooling aids, including RM100 in cash and school bags, to 200 primary and secondary school students in the Betong area during a ‘Leaders Meet the People’ event at Rumah Panjang Enteri Anak Lengkoi Samu in Ulu Paku, Spaoh.
