SIBU: The residents in Bukit Assek here are assured that the area would be developed into a safe and comfortable place to live.
Its assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had already announced the Bukit Assek Redevelopment Plan would commence in 2026 to transform Sibu’s urban landscape.
This project was estimated to be carried out in four phases, and expected to be completed in 15 years until 2040.
“The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government will continue to develop the Bukit Assek constituency for the well-being of all. This development effort will ensure that every individual in this area feels the benefit of the development implemented,” he said at a pre-Gawai Dayak 2024 festive celebration organised by GPS Bukit Assek Service Centre, here recently.
Chieng stressed that as an elected representative of Bukit Assek people, he was committed to ensuring the well-being and prosperity of all residents in the area.
He said that he had allocated Rural Transformation Project (RTP) funds to all longhouses in the area. This was to ensure that all longhouses get the attention they deserve and could enjoy better facilities.
“In addition, through the Minor Rural Project (MRP) Sarawak House Repair for the Poor (PPRMS) project, we have successfully repaired many houses in this area.
“I sincerely hope that you will continue to give me full support. I promise in my capacity, I will always look after the interests and welfare of you all. Together, we will build a brighter and more prosperous future for Bukit Assek,”Chieng added.
