MIRI: The Sarawak Police Headquarters of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department recently hauled Ketamine and Ecstasy worth a total amount of RM39,858 during a raid in Niah here on Wednesday.
The Miri District police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation was conducted at an entertainment centre at 3.35 am. During the raid, the police officers seized a black sling bag belonging to a suspect, containing 121.76 grammes of Ketamine and 8.50 grammes of Ecstasy, valued at RM39,858.00.
Additionally, police also confiscated RM2,760 in cash.
“The case is being prosecuted under Section 39B and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries severe penalties upon conviction, including the possibility of capital punishment.
“Following the arrest, the suspect has been remanded for six days pending further investigation, as approved by the Miri Court under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
Alexson urged the public to report any information related to drug activities to assist in combating such crimes.
