KUCHING: Seventy-three entrepreneurs from all over Sarawak attended a Halal Awareness and Guidance workshop held on October 1 -2 at a hotel here.
Organised by MINTRED in collaboration with the Malaysian Entrepreneurs and Cooperatives Development Ministry (KUSKOP), Sarawak Department of Islamic Religion (JAIS), SME Bank and the State Health Department, the workshop was held in conjunction with the One District One Industry Showcase (SDSI).
It aimed at providing the entrepreneurs the importance of halal and MeSTI certification, in addition to exposing them on the entrepreneurial assistance offered by government agencies.
Halal certification is a guarantee of quality to consumers that the product or the services provided are clean and safe to use and meet the requirements in terms of Islamic Sharia. In the business aspect, entrepreneurs can expand the market network of their products and services not only within Malaysia but internationally.
This two days’ workshop was divided into two components, namely initial awareness related to halal certification and MeSTI on the first day and guidance on applying for halal certification on the second day.
