KUCHING: Entrepreneurs and co-operatives are urged to identify a niche market to be more competitive in today’s trading. Minister of Works, Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof said the niche market could be established by creating a new market demand for a new kind of product.
“Our state is pursuing the digitising of economy and in the future, traditional business operating in shop houses and malls may not be in business anymore.
“Hence, we should take the opportunity to undertake businesses via the internet where we do not need shophouses except s torage houses for the stocks.
“These days, competition is more to the delivery of the product. A company that delivers within 14 days is considered slow in service,” he said. Fadillah was speaking at the launching ceremony of the Astana Ladies Night Flea Market, organised by the Women’s Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), yesterday.
He explained that cooperatives could also undertake online trading to get a good income that could be turned into dividends for the co-operative members by the end of the year.
“Anyone can operat e online, as long as you can cater to the demand, the income is unlimited. “For ins tance, ther e are now many university students who do business online and some of them can earn up to 8,000 in a month,” said Fadillah.
