KUCHING: Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat has stressed the importance of continuous learning for entrepreneurs.
He said there is a need for entrepreneurs to seek knowledge and enhance their skills, which are essential for improving management, product quality, and services.
“I encourage entrepreneurs to explore training and financial assistance programs offered by various agencies, such as the Ministry International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), and the Sarawak Youth Creative Industry Fund (SYCIF).
“Entrepreneurs can access resources and support including information on numerous initiatives on their respective websites, the Sarawak Youth Creative Industry Fund offers government grants for the creative industry.
“For more details, visit their website. Women entrepreneurs in Malaysia can explore specific schemes and support available on relevant agency websites,” he said in his closing speech at the Seminar Asas Pembangunan Produk dan Servis (SAPPS) organised by Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN) in collaboration with Human Resource Development Corp (HRD Corp) today.
He acknowledged the efforts of agencies such as INSKEN and HRD Corp in promoting entrepreneurship and organising training programs.
He also noted the increasing participation of women in entrepreneurship and called on more men to join the field.
“My call to entrepreneurs is to seek entrepreneurial knowledge from any agency that organises programmes. The field of entrepreneurship is constantly evolving, and we know that now it is more focused on technology and current conditions in terms of marketing and financial payments, all of which are directed towards technological development.
“Therefore, this is one aspect that must be taken seriously by entrepreneurs, in addition to improving the quality of products and services they provide,” he added.
He hoped the knowledge gained would help entrepreneurs succeed and contribute to the socio-economic development of Sarawak.
The event, part of National Training Week 2024, will take place in four locations of Kuching, Bintulu and Miri, from June 24 to June 30, with 550 participants attending the seminar series.
