BAU: Students especially in Bau must equip themselves with knowledge and skills relating to digital innovation which is in line with the development of borderless digital world.

In making this call, Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said that with digital innovation, the people of Bau will be able to drive the progress of the area which will benefit them in the future.

“Bau which was used to be famous for its mining activities has now seen the tourism sector in the area is developing rapidly.

“For the future of Bau, the Greater Bau initiative through the establishment of Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) is going to drive development growth in Bau by 2030.

“Among the sectors involved are tourism and socio-economics as well as accelerating development in the Bau town area and surrounding villages.”

Henry, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman said this is when officiating the Project of Dreams Realised (PRO-DR) education roadshow held at Bau Civic Centre here today.

In regards to the programme, Henry said the roadshow, which is organised by TEGAS Community Innovative Learning, saw the participation of about 30 private and public educational institutions, education funding agencies and also strategic partners of TEGAS.

“The main objective of this roadshow is to help as many students post Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) to further their studies.

“In addition, this roadshow also aims to promote Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVT) education as an option for the youths in furthering their education.

“From this roadshow, students will be able to obtain accurate information about educational opportunities to the community, especially in rural areas,” he said.

He stressed that education is the basis for the development and progress of society and with quality education and the level of excellent educational achievement will be able to change the future of the students, adding that these are the factors that will help in socioeconomic development in the area.

About 415 students from schools in Bau attended the roadshow. Among those present were Kuching Deputy Resident Mackos Sibong, Bau District Officer Anielia Siam and senior manager of TEGAS Community Innovative Learning Fredick Kevin Buseli.
