KUCHING: Six individuals were each slapped with a RM10,000 compound for violating conditional movement control order standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Sunday (April 18).

The Ops Covid Compliance task force conducted a raid on an entertainment centre in Jalan Setia Raja here around 11.45 pm. It was operating way past the allowed time.

Kuching deputy police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said six locals — four men and two women aged between 20 and 37— were found inside the premises past the allowed time.

They committed an offence under Regulation 21A (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations Amendment 2021.

Stern warnings were given to owners of eateries and entertainment centres in the district, to comply with SOPs such as operating according to the hours set and practising physical distancing in the premises.

Supt Merbin stressed that compound action would be taken if they were found to be not complying.

“We will not hesitate to send a list of premises that failed to comply with SOPs to the local authority for revocation of operating permission.”
