BINTULU: A collision between a motorcyle and a 4WD vehicle, here early yesterday morning ended with the death of the motorcyclist.
The fatal accident occurred in front of the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bintulu.
Bintulu District Police Chief Superintendent Zailani Amit, said the accident occurred when the motorcycle was riding against the traffic from Court Mammoth Medan Raya and collided with the 4WD vehicle coming from Bintulu town.
According to him, the motorcycle rider was confirmed dead on the scene while vehicle’s driver was not injured.
The victim is an Iban from Rumah Akai Sungai Merusa Suai House, Niah.
“The road was straight, illuminated with street lights and the weather at that time was good and the road was dry,” he said.
He added that the result of the initial investigation was the negligence of the motorcyclist because riding against the traffic flows in a straight ways.
He informed that the case was investigated under section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and no arrest was made.
