KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Electronic Sports Association (ESM) is ready to choose their athletes for next year’s Philippines SEA Games.
ESM secretary-general Rinie Ramli said a thorough selection process would be carried out based on the type of video games to be contested.
“Next year’s SEA Games will be the first time that eSports events will be officially included in the medal tally. So, the selection of athletes will be held from the state level to the national level so that we do not just focus on the Klang Valley,” he said yesterday.
He said the organisers were supposed to release the list of eSports events to be contested at the Games this week.
“But they are still reviewing certain details,” he said, adding that Malaysia’s strength was in games like Dota2, FIFA19, Counter Strike, Mobile Legend, Tekken and PUBG.-Bernama
