LIMBANG: The Phase One of the Esplanade Limbang has finally been completed.
Following this, Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail stated that the submission process of the handing over to the Limbang District Council is underway and is expected to open for the public in April this year.
“I believe that with this completion, it will be able to become another preferred location for the organisation of various programmes as listed by the Limbang District Main Festival Committee,” he said as reported by UKAS.
He said this when officiating at Limbang Motor Day 1.0 organised by Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Bukit Kota Branch here on Saturday (Feb 25).
Adding on, Abdul Rahman who is also the Chairman of SABERKAS Bukit Kota Branch, announced that the construction of the Limbang Recreation Field at the site of the Limbang Old Airport is ahead of its schedule and is expected to be completed this year.
“If this project can be completed early, it may be used as a location for holding the Limbang Motor Day 2.0,” he said.
He stated that Limbang Motor Day 2.0 is proposed to be held around the end of 2023 on a larger scale.
“The Limbang Motor Day 1.0 programme held here is a ‘warm up’, at the end of the year we will hold a bigger one and will announce it earlier to the outside community so that more people will participate,” he said.
For the record, Limbang Motor Day, which was held for the first time here, received a lively response from local youth as well as motoring clubs from Sarawak, Sabah, Labuan and Brunei Darussalam.
Various activities were held throughout the programme from Feb 24 to Feb 26 including ‘Bike Show’ for various categories, ‘Battle of The Bands’ competition, performances from local singers and guest artistes, arm wrestling competition, talks from the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) and many more.
