MUKAH: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya visited over 40 residences of families in his constituency in conjunction with the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri .

The Jemoreng assemblyman said he made the visits on the first and second day of the celebration.

“We were able to visit over 28 residences on the first day and the remaining 20 on the second day.

“Among those we visited were Pemanca, Penghulu, village chiefs, community figures, friends and fellow relatives,” he said.

The visits were also meant to keep abreast with recent development in every village and at the same time to monitor the safety and wellbeing of the villagers.

However, he also stated that some other villagers decided not to hold open houses this year due to them still being weary of the spread of the COVID-19.

“For example, villagers in the Igan area are known to have held open houses every year but this year they gave it a miss due to the pandemic,” said Juanda.

He said the decision was a smart move.

“This was because they knew better the condition of their own community and that they believed it would be safer not to have open houses due to the uncertain condition pertaining to the coronavirus.

“We also would like to remind the residents to always stay safe and practise the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and prioritise their own safety and the safety of their families too during this Raya festive season,” he added.
