KUCHING: A total of seven former community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) from Samarahan district, along with two officers from the Muara Tuang constituency, were honoured for their unwavering service to the community during the Bakti Dijunjung, Budi Dikenang ceremony.

The event, held by the Muara Tuang Constituency Service Centre in collaboration with the Samarahan District Office, saw the presence of the Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Datuk Idris Buang, who also serves as the Muara Tuang assemblyman.

In his address, he acknowledged the dedication and sacrifices of these former leaders and officers, emphasising that their contributions have left a lasting impact on the Samarahan area.

He expressed his hope that even in retirement or new assignments, they would continue to support the region’s growth, both directly and indirectly.

Also present during the event were Samarahan Division Deputy Resident Rais Ahmat, Samarahan District Officer Ahmad Abdul Razak, Asajaya District Officer Jerry Zannuddin Bidin, Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) Special Officer Anuar Da’an, and Samarahan Division Malay Temenggong Chek Bujang.

During the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were presented to the seven KMKK, as well as to former Samarahan Division Deputy Resident Anuar Da’an, who is now a Special Officer at IRSDA, and former Samarahan Assistant District Officer Jerry Zannuddin Bidin, who has taken on the role of Asajaya District Officer.
