One of the new faces represent ing the Bar i san Nasional (BN) Sarawak in the14th (Parliamentary) General Election (GE) is Ahmad Johnie Zawawi , f rom Par t i Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB). He is contesting in the Parliamentary Constituency of Igan (P207), in a straight fight against Andri Zul ka rna en Hamden (PKRAmanah). Igan constituency has 19,592 eligible voters.

In the 2013 GE the seat was won by Datuk Wahab Dolah (BN-PBB) who is not contesting this time around, with a majority of 10,149. Ahmad Johnie described his selection as a candidate as a heavy responsibility that must be borne for the sake of the party and to realise the people’s dream. He thanked the party’s top leadership and Datuk Wahab Dolah for their trust in him in representing the people and said he will work closely with both State Legislative Assembly (DUN) members for N.43 Daro and N.44 Jemoreng to uplift the people’s living standard.

Ahmad Johnie, 55, who was born in Kuala Matu, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and i s cur rent ly the Managing Director of Serimaju Resources Sdn Bhd and Executive Director of Alunan Jujur Sdn Bhd. Prior to this, he was Chief Operating Officer (COO) of The Sarawak Press Sdn Bhd and Warta Distribution Sdn Bhd. Married with three children, Ahmad Johnie has also served as Daro’s Administrative Officer.
