SIBU: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) former deputy president Sai Melaka has announced he is leaving the party and dissolving the PBDS branch sponsorship committee for Katibas state constituency over alleged “improper and messy management”.
He also announced that he would not be replying to the show cause letter dated June 16, 2023 which was forwarded to him by acting president Major (B) Moses Ripai. He was given 30 days to reply, but was adamant that he “is no longer interested in PBDS”.
“I announce that I am quitting the party and the PBDS branch sponsorship committee for Katibas state constituency is dissolved immediately.
“I am no longer interested in continuing the political struggle with PBDS which has been found to have lost its direction and faith in the existing leadership,” he said in a statement.
Sai claimed that PBDS has many problems and the culture of bickering with each other is proven by the dismissal of eight committee members on April 15 by secretary Kipli Ayom without reason and not from the proper PBDS Disciplinary Board.
“This shows improper and messy management.
“Because of our honesty, integrity, friendly and well-known attitude through non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and as chairman of Gagasan Dayak Iban Bersatu (GAIU) Johor, I have recently received many invitations to join other parties and no less from the ruling party.
“However, I will make the right decision to continue my political struggle so that it is approved and agreed by my grassroots supporters to continue the struggle together for a better nation in the future,” he said.
Sai said he will announce which party he will join shortly after discussions with grassroots supporters and party representatives are finalised.
In light of this, he stressed that the purpose of politics is to defend the rights and welfare of the people and to convey their voices.
“Our struggle is to improve the standard of living of our community in education, economy and local social culture as well as to eradicate poverty.
“The principle of prioritising the distribution of national wealth, distributed equally in all areas regardless of race and religion among Malaysians should be prioritised.
“This is in addition to prioritising fights against corruption and leakages in the government so that we will have a clean government administration,” he said.
