Ex-police, retirees urged to channel latest personal info

KUCHING: The Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) Sarawak Contingent is urging former police officers and pensioners to provide their personal information to increase their eligibility for the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN).

PDRM Sarawak Contingent management department head SAC Norzanah Buang, in a statement issued yesterday, said that the contingent was currently in the process of updating the data of former policemen who had served in Sarawak from the year 1962 to Oct 17, 1990, also known as the Communist insurgency era.

“The data and personal details of these pensioners and former policemen are important in the efforts to find and locate those who are eligible for the medal (PJPN).

“In this regard, the contingent has requested retirees and former police involved to provide information such as names, personal numbers, old and new identity card numbers and pension dates, mobile or home phone numbers, home addresses and their next of kin,” the statement read.

The retirees and former policemen include those who served as Border Scout (BS), Special Constabulary (SC), Extra Police Constable (EPC), Home Guard (HG), Auxiliary Police (AP), Women Sarawak Constabulary (WSC), Police Field Force Reservist (PFFR).

The information can be passed to the nearest police stations, District Police Headquarters, Public Affairs Branch/Retired Police Office of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters at 082-274031 or the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters Welfare Branch at tel. 082-274079.
