KUCHING: An ex-soldier was among four individuals arrested for alleged involvement in substance abuse in a rented room at Jalan Kota Sentosa, Mile 7 on Sunday (June 7).

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said that a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division raided the room around 6.55pm.

“They found two men and a female aged 30 to 36 years in the room, allegedly involved in substance abuse.

“Following a room search, they came across a black container containing four wrapped papers and five transparent plastic packets, each containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu with an estimated weight of 8.70 grammes,” he said in a statement.

Aidil said three of the suspects who had previous records under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, admitted to having bought the drugs via online transactions and were meant to be sold around Mile 7.

The 23-year-old ex-soldier who on the other hand had no past record, had arrived as the raid was being conducted. He was tested positive which led him to being arrested.
