KUCHING: The Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) Bill 2022 is viewed as very appropriate said Datuk Talib Zulpilip (GPS-Jepak).
He said the Bill, among other seeked to renamed “Chief Minister” to “Premier” and “Assistant Minister” to “Deputy Minister” is what the rakyat hope Sarawak to achieve.
“(All these years) the restoration of state rights has been eroded, overlooked, and outright neglected. This cannot be ignored much longer because it will weaken the integrity or cohesion of the Federation,” he said.
He said this when debating in support of the Bill during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.
Sharing his and others’ experiences, he stated that over the years, they have been fighting hard for equitable budgetary allocation.
“But we observed that Sarawak did not get its fair share. There is even a period where a certain government canceled the approved projects in Sarawak.
“We need more but we get less compared to other more developed states. This cannot be tolerated in an equitable situation in the Federation,” he reiterated.
Talib further pointed out that the equitable can only be obtained by restoring our rights as per stated in Malaysia Agreement (MA63).
“Only then we have a chance of getting our fair allocation to develop Sarawak. Make no mistake. The rakyat wants this.
“They want the Federation to last with better equity in its governance and Sarawak getting its fair share.
“Hence, I hereby support the Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) Bill 2022,” he declared.
