BINTULU: An excavator operator faced alarming moment when the machinery he was operating suddenly caught fire at a factory, Hextar Agriculture Sdn. Bhd. Kemena Land District Tanjung Kidurong, here on Thursday afternoon.
Acting Head of Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station, PPGB Jerry Jelani Anak Bandang said that after receiving an emergency call, a total of 10 members were rushed to the scene with X FRT and X EMRS headed by Senior Fire Officer PBK II Zulkifli Narawi.
According to him, the operations commander reported that the fire occurred when the excavator machinery was doing the work of demolishing concrete structures inside the building measuring 40 metres X 30 metres. He said it took four minutes to extinguish the fire.
“The machinery operator only knew about the fire when he noticed smokes coming out from the excavator,” he said. He added that the operations commander confirmed that the fire did not involve the structure of the excavator and the percentage of damage was about 50 per cent. Obviously, the fire did not involve any casualty, he pointed out.
